January 30 - Museum Visit at MoMA

Pablo Picasso, Don Quijote de la Mancha

What’s the Matter with Reality? A Journey through the main artistic Movements of late 19th and 20th centuries.

"How would the painter or the poet express anything else than his encounter with the world?" (Maurice Merleau Ponty). During this tour of MoMA we will try to understand and penetrate this "encounter with the world" that lies behind each painting.

A rapid overlook of the main artistic Movements of the late 19th and 20th centuries will enable us to emphasize different ways to look at Reality -far from archeology, we may find out how contemporary these different attitudes may sometimes be... As our present time is more and more seduced by “virtual reality”, Monet, Picasso, Mirò, Mondrian, etc. will be our guides on this our journey towards Reality !
