The Heart’s Home volunteers are young people (from 21 to 35 years old) who dedicate their time to serve the poor. They enter long-term (from 14 to 24 months) full-time work as catholic Lay missionaries in deprived areas all over the world.

These catholic volunteers share a simple life of community prayer within a missionary house (a Heart’s Home), or in a Heart’s Home village and dedicate their time to children and families in need.
The services they accomplish involve, but are not limited to:
- Operating as day care centers to provide children with a safe place to play and do their homework.
- Visiting the elderly, the sick and the homebound, helping them to gain access to health care, providing end of life services or simply companionship.
- Bringing assistance to the poorest, helping them to get food, medicines, clothes, and decent housing.
- Visiting the most abandoned in prisons, garbage dumps, slums, orphanages and hospitals.

The Heart’s Home program seems like the perfect opportunity for me to do my part in changing the world. It allows the missionaries to live like the poor while helping, loving and serving them. But first and foremost, Heart’s Home can allow the people of the world to change me.”
