“Truly I tell you, just as you did it to the least of these, who are members of my family, you did it to me.” –Matt 25:40
“Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the friends, even though they are strangers to you; they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well send them on in a manner worthy of God; for they begin their journey for the sake of Christ….Therefore we ought to support such people, so that we may become co-workers with the truth.” -3 John 5-8
My name is Peter and I am from Hamburg, New York. This June I will finish a masters degree in Theology from the University of St. Michael’s College (Toronto, ON, Canada). After a 4 year degree from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY and this 2 year masters, God has let me know that it is time to put all that contemplation into action. I began my online search for organizations in December 2010 and came across Heart’s Home in January 2011. Just one viewing their video and a quick search through their website was enough to let me know that I had found my match. Their dedication to compassion-centered outreach to the marginalized is work that the world needs. I have been very privileged in my life up to this point. Such privilege can be credited to the hard work of my family before me and the constant grace of God who has no doubt been at work through all of it. Upon reflecting on my situation, it has become obvious that the only response to such blessings is thanksgiving through service to the poor. Hearts Home allows me to offer that thanks to God and to be privileged in a new way, seeing His face in those I will be helping.
I will be leaving for Buenos Aires, Argentina in August. I am thrilled to have such an opportunity.
