Our History

Heart’s Home his­tory in a quick glance...

  • 1990: Heart’s Home is founded by Rev. Thierry de Roucy. The first two Heart’s Home centers are opened in Argentina and Brazil. Eleven young people serve as our first missionaries.
  • 1992-1999: Heart’s Home opens 24 houses around the world, in countries including Peru, India and the Philippines, placing over 150 missionaries from 15 countries. In 1992, the first Heart’s Home village was founded in Brazil.
  • 1995 Some young people decide to dedicate their life in celibacy to serving Christ and the Church through the ministry of Heart’s Home.
  • 1999: 150 missionaries from 15 countries in 20 countries.
  • 2005: Heart’s Home is granted special consultative status by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
  • 2006: New Heart’s Home centers are founded in Lviv, Ukraine and São Paolo, Brazil.
  • 2008: A new Heart’s Home center is founded in Valparaiso, Chile.
  • 2009: Heart’s Home opens a center in Berlin, Germany.
  • 2010: Our founder, Father Thierry de Roucy, resigned his functions as moderator and executive director of Heart’s Home. In 2011 the Diocese of Fréjus-Toulon received allegations of sexual misconduct made against Father de Roucy. In 2014 he has been suspended from the priesthood a divinis and living a life of prayer and penance in France.
  • since 2010: New centers were opened in Cuba, Greece, Japan, Uruguay and Costa Rica.
