Father Damien of Molokai means a lot for the volunteers. He is like a lead climber in the great adventure of love and compassion. He loved the leper island of Molokai where he chose to serve as a priest, to become himself a leper and to die from this terrible disease. It is why we chose to place under his protection the fraternity of those who, among the friends of children, feel called to devote their whole lives to God and to the poor living the mission of Heart’s Home.
On October 11, 2009, the Blessed Father Damien has been canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in the Basilica St Peter of Rome, becoming thus Saint Damien of Molokaï.
