Heart’s Home is an international Catholic non-profit organization that works to promote a culture of compassion around the world through a range of charitable and cultural efforts.
- Heart’s Home’s missionaries provide intimate, one-on-one support to individuals in some of the most deprived areas of the world. With 41 centers in 21 countries in five continents, each Heart’s Home center plays an indispensable role in its surrounding community, as the volunteers befriend and assist poor and socially isolated people in the area.
- Heart’s Home’s efforts are not limited to the any single population. The organization also works on a global level to reaffirm the intrinsic value of every individual through cultural initiatives in the fields of art, business, science and education. The International Center for a Culture of Compassion in Woodbourne, NY is Heart’s Home’s main venue for its efforts to spread its message of compassion throughout society as a whole.
In 2005, Heart’s Home was granted the special consultative status within the United Nations (ECOSOC)(Fr), on the basis of its work to promote human dignity and of its contribution to the Millenium Development Goals. Since then, Heart’s Home has opened a center in Geneva, Switzerland and has played a role in various ECOSOC activities dealing with human dignity.
To fulfill its mission to spread compassion throughout society, Heart’s Home bases its work on the three following pillars: compassion, community, and prayer-life.
