I am so excited to begin this new adventure as a Heart’s Home Missionary. Since early high school I have felt the Lord has placed the desire on my heart to serve him as a foreign missionary, a desire that has only become stronger throughout my four years at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where I will be graduating in May with a B.A. in Theology.
I am the second of six kids; I have an older brother, three younger sisters and a little brother. I have been so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing Christian witnesses throughout my life, the first of which are my parents. I am so grateful to them for passing on their faith and introducing me to Christ and to their great love for family and serving others. I have encountered the joy and the love of Christ in my own life and I desire to share that same joy and love with others. I particularly have felt drawn to Heart’s Home because of their life lived in community, grounded in daily prayer, and centered on the Eucharist.I find their ministry of presence and main charism of compassion, which is lived among both the spiritually and materially poor, very beautiful. I want to learn and to live in this “school of love.” Yet, why is it that I should feel such a strong desire and call to leave behind what I know and love here to go so far away? All I can really say is that the Lord has a unique vocation for each of us and He is opening my eyes and my heart to embrace a larger family. The closer we draw to Christ and his Church the more we are united and the closer we become to one another, even when geographically we may be so far apart!
The Lord has so much to teach me and to show me over mission and I am so excited to spend this time with him and his people in the Philippines. As my brothers and sisters in Christ I ask for your prayers and support as I prepare for this mission. I cannot do this alone and I look forward to sharing this adventure with you!
