My time living and working as a young professional in New York has been an amazing and fun experience; however, I believe that God is calling me to do something very different in my life. I know that my mission will be a lot different from my time in New York. For instance, I expect to live a very simple life, as opposed to the busy and chaotic life in Manhattan. Nevertheless, I desire to follow my heart and become a missionary.
My name is Julian L. and I am 24 years old. My parents are of Filipino descent, but, I was born in Washington DC. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2008 with a double major in pre-medicine and philosophy. Currently, I am a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Hospital for Special Surgery, the teaching hospital of Weill Cornell Medical College, in Manhattan. I work on a research study which investigates the effects orthopedic surgery and physical therapy in patients with osteoarthritis and a meniscal tear in the knee.
Besides my desire to serve with Heart’s Home, I am a pretty normal guy in his mid 20’s. I love playing and following sports, especially soccer and American football (Go Irish!). In college, I played squash competitively, and in high school I ran track, cross country, and played varsity baseball. I also have a passion for photography, art, and filmmaking. I love visiting art museums and taking artistic photographs around the world. One of my biggest interests is to care for the sick, which is why I am pursuing a professional career as a medical doctor.
