Happy 20th Birthday Argentina!

This year we celebrated twenty years of our Heart’s Home being in Argentina!

“The presence of a Heart’s Home has done so much for this neighborhood – it has brought us all so much peace.” This quiet gratitude from Fr Oscar Casale, the pastor of our parish here in Villa Jardin for ten years, brings us back to the heart of our mission here. Along with Msgr Rubèn Frassia, bishop of the diocese of Avellaneda-Lanús, they joined our celebration of Mass as we celebrated our twentieth anniversary here in Buenos Aires.

For twenty years, in this very neighborhood, in this very house, among these neighbors and friends (many of whom are now welcoming a third generation), the over 80 volunteers of almost fifteen different nationalities have prayed with, listened to, supported, cried with, sung with, played with and quite simply loved with all their hearts the people of Villa Jardin.

The result? Certainly positive. But the bishop reminded us during his homily: “in the Gospel and in the Church, we seek not success but fruitfulness, “bearing a fruit that will last” (Jn 15)”. Along with him, we give thanks, for “God never wearies of being generous.”

In the video below (produced by one of our friends), you’ll hear our friends reciting the prayer of St Francis in Spanish:

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

And then: This prayer has been recited every day in this neighborhood
