Aim: The Come & see Weekend is meant to enable you to discern whether or not God is calling you to join Heart’s Home in Mission.
You will be given the opportunity to go and visit the lonely and the sick and to get a better understanding of the charism of Compassion. You can come to ask all your questions and share your hopes and fears.
Where? At Heart’s Home John-Paul II in Brooklyn, NY or in San Francisco (In this latter case please contact Father Gonzague).
When? From Friday 6.30 p.m to Sunday 4.00 p.m.
If you cannot make it so early on Friday or if you have to leave earlier on Sunday, schedules are flexible. Please consult our Calendar or contact us to see when the upcoming Come & See weekend will be held.
What will you be doing? You will follow the daily life of the Brooklyn Community.
In the morning, besides an hour of silent Adoration, you will be given talks on the three main pillars of our life, namely: Prayer, Community and Compassion.
In the afternoon you will go to visit people in the neighborhood or in a Nursing Home with one of the members of our Community.
The weekend also includes a one-on-one interview to explain what are your reasons for going on a Mission with Heart’s Home.
What will the next step be?
At the end of the weekend, we will let you know if we accept or not your application as a Missionary. If you are accepted, you will be given a two-week time of discernment before having to give your own answer. If you decide to volunteer with Heart’s Home, you will be in contact with our staff that will help you out with all practical points such as sponsors, passport and visa, vaccinations, language and your sending forth mass. You will also have to attend a two-week Orientation Program hold in the Brooklyn Heart’s Home or in the ICCC.
