For the magnificent day of the beatification of Pope John Paul II, on Sunday May 1, Heart’s Home could not fail to be present. From different regions of France and Italy, we came to live this great moment for the entire Church. Here is how Guillaume - member of the Molokai Fraternity - describes what he calls “An experience close to the heavens and the earth” :
“It was after a sleepless night of tug of war that we arrived at the foot of the obelisk, the central point of St. Peter’s Square in Rome. How deep was our astonishment to see the Church represented by these thousands of faithful, come to celebrate with the Holy Father the beatification of our beloved Pope John Paul II! We were particularly touched by the influx and the fervor of the Polish people who came to celebrate “their” Pope.
It is with great joy and great emotion, that the image of the Blessed, clinging to the facade of the basilica, was unveiled. “John Paul II is blessed!” proclaims the Pope Benedict XVI at the beginning of his homily. Imagine the thousands of faithful, most of whom have known the Holy Father, answer to this event by a multitude of loud applause!
It was for us a profound experience of proximity, in the communion of saints: he was with us a few years ago; today he is always present and never ceases to repeat "Do not be afraid! Open, open wide the doors to Christ!”
