International Heart’s Home Meeting

Flassans, Southern France, June, 2009

Last June, a large number of permanent members of Heart’s Home, Servants of God’s Presence, seminarians and priests met for two weeks. We were about a hundred people in the small village of Flassans, on the French Riviera. We celebrated together the priestly ordination of five new priests for Heart’s Home.

The meeting opened with a seven-day retreat. During that time we could listen to Fr. Thierry de Roucy’s meditation on the Gospel of John. The second week was dedicated to sharing our experiences around the world. With von Balthasar, we reflected on Christian Simplicity as a way to look at all things from God’s perspective, He who is the outpouring source of all beings. We concluded these two beautiful weeks with the ordination of five Heart’s Home priests (including Gonzague Leroux). They got ordained together with 20 other Priests and Deacons, by his Excellency the most Reverend Dominique Rey, bishop of Frejus-Toulon, who, on the same day he was ordaining 25 new priests and deacons, happened to be celebrating on that day his 25 years of priesthood!

Last June, Pope Benedict inaugurated the year of priesthood to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the “Dies Natalis” of the Curé of Ars, the Patron Saint of parish priests worldwide. The Holy Father introduced the celebration quoting the Curé of Ars: “Priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus”. Please pray for the newly ordained priests and for many more vocations, as the Pope asks us to in his letter.
