14 New Members for our Salvadorian Fraternity

“Today, more than ever, I, (name), want to give wit­ness of my love for Christ and make it pre­sent by com­mit­ting myself to the Fraternity of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, within Heart’s Home.” Thus started the com­mit­ment for­mula that 14 of our Salvadorian friends pro­nounced on January 26 in our chapel María Madre de Misericordia.

The Maximilian Kolbe Fraternity is one of the branches of our move­ment that allows lay people to live our charism in their own fam­i­lies, in their work­places and in all that makes part of their daily lives, with the aim of spreading around them a cul­ture of com­pas­sion in the world.

Our Frat Max Salvador, as we call it, is a lively reality: single people, cou­ples and chil­dren meet every 15 days for a time of study and sharing around a text and a good meal. Once a month, each member is called to live an apos­tolic time in the neigh­bor­hood where the Heart’s Home Faustino Perez is located, or by vis­iting a Center for Disabled Children or a Nursing Home. They also share an annual retreat, which is an impor­tant moment to be nour­ished and to cel­e­brate the bless­ings of living in com­mu­nion with each other.

It was in a spirit of rev­er­ence and fervor, that this past January 26th our friends pro­nounced their com­mit­ment, accom­pa­nied by the Heart’s Home teams from Honduras and El Salvador, the Servants of God’s Presence and some other friends gath­ered in our chapel. Deep emo­tion could be read upon their faces; The same emo­tion - I dare say - the dis­ci­ples must have felt when, upon hearing Christ’s voice, they felt their hearts burn out of the desire to follow the Lamb.
